So many times I've heard..... "If it was easy, we wouldn't need you." Many times it sounded like a placebo The false pat on the back To get more out of you with little cost It said so much and yet so little When what I was doing was hard It sounded gratifying and encouraging When the task was easy It sounded hollow and mocking Now I find myself rarely doing That which is challenging Or that which is fulfilling And find myself missing those words Now I've learned to say those words to myself I often forget to praise myself But more then ever before I look to my son Derek and myself And I tell myself that is a job "well done"!
