Finding a New Life
(After years of living as a zombie, so the pain would go away, I wrote this when I could let feelings back into my life. It was a very slow progress and there is no guarantee you won't slide backwards during bad times. Yet it is a new starting place and far better than where you have been hiding.) Tentatively reaching beyond your experience
Learning to know yourself The joy of finding you can exceed
Those familiar boundaries
Becoming stronger everyday Finding you can define feelings
You once felt were unexplainable
And face them without confusion Warmed by a laugh - a caress
Sharing a joy and even a tear
Daring to love yourself Life with all it's twists and turns
Saying what you are thinking
And feeling the joys and sorrows Always knowing tomorrow is another day
A day to look forward to
