Bedtime

Little girl, it's time to sleep,

As in your soft pink hands you weep.

What bedtime stories used to soothe,

Now only pebbles they can move.

And these boulders in your dreams,

Tear you apart right at the seams.

Closet monsters you can't lose,

Is this the nightmare that you choose?

Falling faces, blades of brick,

Sights and sounds that make you sick.

This pain that wraps you out inside,

It hurt so much you almost died.

People laughing, children play,

But in this bad dream you shall stay.

Of these haunting you must ask,

To nudge you awake at last.

Drift away, tight in your bed,

As loving sister strokes your head.

People dreaming, children pray,

But in this nightmare you must stay
