Trick or treat, trick or treat"
Give us good things to eat"

Darkness falls with sudden swiftness,
The night is fraught with unreal stillness.
Then like the flutters of falling leaves,
Float the voices of small children's pleas

Spooks and goblins, witches and cats of black
Ghosts and devils all hold up their sacks
Houses are dark with pumpkins bright
Lanterns flicker with an  eerie light
Soon all the children return to their beds
And dreams of sweet things float in their heads.

Outside the wind blows and creatures howl
This is the night that chills the soul
Through the night and up to the dawn
Scary and weird happenings go on
As the dawn with it's sunlight begins
The night of the goblins and ghouls ends.
