An Old Fashion Christmas
Remember
when Christmas was:
A new pair of Pajamas
A Life Saver book
Apples, Oranges and Nuts
in your stocking
A pair of Skates
A Bike (probably handed
down & repainted)
Bubble Lights on the tree
Home made Cookies and
Candy Canes
A new Doll with hand made
Clothes
Going to Church with Family
and Friends
Having Relatives for a
Festive Dinner
Fresh baked Breads &
Home Made Candy
These are the things I
remember. As a child I
couldn't wait for Thanksgiving
to get over &
seeing the Christmas decorations
to go up all
over town. The baby
Jesus would lay in his
manger with wise men and
sheep. The star
shown over the stable,
brightly lighting the way.
Thanksgiving weekend the
baking
started in earnest &
once in awhile a Christmas
carol would play on the
radio to remind you
that Christmas was just
around the corner.
You mailed out
cards & wished everyone
you saw "Happy Holidays".
Even the town grouch smiled
when you smiled and wished him a happy holiday.
The last week was
the hardest. School was
out, all you could think
about was Christmas.
You finished wrapping
your gifts and waited.
That wait was the longest
you could ever re-
member and you & your
friends guessed what
could possibly be under
the tree. Never since
has the anticipation been
so great. By Christ-
mas Eve you were so excited
you could hardly
fall asleep.
This is the kind of Christmas
I wish for you.
